Exercise Selection question - worth the time? Pull, row, extension combo? Werner Gunthor

I have been listening to your podcast since the beginning, highly respect your opinions, and am very curious of your opinions on this exercise I have never seen before.

I came across this exercise movement when seeing some training videos of Werner Gunthor.
Here is an excerpt from that training video of the exercise movement in question:

I understand the answer to the question completely depends on one’s goal of why they are lifting, etc. So I’m not even sure what I’m asking other than just general opinion?

If one’s goals are general health and strength, to become stronger and healthier, do you see any use from this exercise, or would one’s time be better spent performing different movements that would accomplish similar outcomes with better exercise selection?

I sometimes program rows (barbell and dumbbell varieties) while using a glute ham developer (GHD), as I think these can be useful for strengthening the lower and mid back. While similar to a row from the floor, there’s less potential contribution from the lower body, I think.

As far as whether this movement is a good idea for someone, I think this slants more for strength than hypertrophy, where a more strict, less fatiguing variant would be preferred. If someone has access to a GHR and wants to use this as a horizontal row variation, that’s cool with me.

I call then “G-rows” and have seen others call them “murderer’s rows” for a bit of histrionic flare.

Thanks so much Jordan!
