Hello guys Ive got a question about Hypertrophy 2 Day 4 (Block1-2) supplemental pull 2 3rd exercise which is Shrugs/Hip Thrusts both of which I dont like. So for a supplemental pull 2 options i have rows/pullups which im already doing enough volume in GPP/Off days. Second option is back extensions which i cant load them heavy enough for the prescribed reps/rpe. 3rd option is upright rows which I dont like too and now Im left with 4th option which are deadlift variations but the 4th day have already a deadlift slot and doing another deadlift variation for 36+ reps will be an overkill (i guess). So what would you guys suggest I do?
Been training around 2 years serious with BBM programming, I feel like there is no carryover maybe hip thrust but anw I take it that I should shrugs/hip thrust as programmed?
Thanks for the reply. With respect to carryover, I don’t think that should be a major consideration in a hypertrophy-focused training program. Rather, muscle/muscle group(s) trained, range of motion used, fatigue generated, preferences, and more are all more important. That said, both the hip thrust and shrugs have reasonably transference carry to other barbell lifts and would encourage you to try them out if you’ve never trained them before.
