Hypertrophy I Questions: Back Volume and Barbell Substitutions

Hi Docs,

I recently purchased the Hypertrophy I template, and in reviewing the prescribed exercises, I had a couple of hopefully quick questions:

  1. Noticed the upper back exercises are prescribed as GPP. What exercises are recommended for upper back hypertrophy?
  2. For supplemental exercises, dumbbell flyes are recommended. In the absence of a set of dumbbells, what substitute would you recommend? Thanks so much!

  1. All lifting has the potential to drive hypertrophy. The gpp and regularly programmed work drives hypertrophy for the upper back in particular.
  2. Pushups or similar.
