Hi; i’ve seen Jordan saying multiple times that you can gain strength while losing fat, however i didn’t find any info on how much calorie deficit is too much to keep gaining strength simultaneously.
Let’s say my food intake is 2700 kcal per day to keep my current bodyweigth, and i reduced it to 1700 kcal per day to lose weigth, how much will it affect my ability to gain strength simultaneously ? What if i eat just 800 kcal per day instead ?
There isn’t any calorie deficit that automatically portends a bad outcome with respect to strength improvements. However, greater deficits tend to produce more LBM loss, which can attenuate strength gains.
As far as quantifying how those two deficits will affect you as an individual, there’s no way to know prospectively, as everyone responds differently. If you’re relatively untrained I would actually expect you to get stronger regardless.
