Grip problems

Good day to all

Recently, I have been experimenting with my deadlift stance and grip width to try to find my best positioning. I have long legs, average width hips but with narrow shoulders. I finally found the position where I can get the tightest, but it puts my first 2 fingers, on each hand, on the inside of the knurl. This places my thumb on the bare steel when i set my hook. I havent found this to be a problem for doing singles but when I do more than 3 reps, I keep having to reset the hook in the middle of the set as it tends to loosen between reps. Any suggestions on how to deal with this? I dont want to take undeserved rest in high rep sets, but i dont want to have to pull all of my back off work with straps either.

Thanks for taking the time.

I don’t think that grip is ideal if 1RM performance is important to you. That said, I don’t think it’s a problem if you have to reset your grip mid set. That’s pretty normal.

How you suggest i move my grip out? How do I determine the ideal position?

It’s probably going to be right at the start of the knurling of a standard power bar. Maybe a little wider if you’re very broad or large.
