Heartburn & subbing carbs for fat

Hello Doctors -

I’ve been experiencing some heartburn along with the sensation of a lump in my chest for the last few days now. I’m seeing a gastroenterology doctor about it next week. In the meantime I’d like to make some dietary changes to help manage it.

Peanuts and other nuts, which are my primary sources of fat macros, seem to be giving me the most irritation. My protein (chicken, ground turkey & pork tenderloin) is all relatively low fat. Is there another form of fat I can eat which might cause a bit less irritation, or can I start subbing in some additional carbs to make up the difference?

I’m 36 and currently on a maintenance diet.

You could consume more olive oil, avocado, or similar- though high dietary fat intake does tend to be associated with more reflux-type symptoms (if this is what you have). You may consider replacing some of the dietary fat calories with carbohydrates if you like
