Help with weight loss

Set up garage gym and have been working out through COVID. Had a hip issue recently then some GI pain(diverticulitis). So, I’m getting back into it. Been off for 6 weeks. Realizing I need to lose weight, thought would be good to refocus.
Currently:
6’3” 270lbs
I know I am 38+ waist.
When I started back up in April I ran the LP then went into powerbuilding.
I am wondering if you think that approach, with a strict diet will help or would you recommend a different template? Add in some early cardio?

We prefer our beginner template, but whatever program you can stick to and that meets/exceeds our physical activity guidelines (outlined here) will do. We would add conditioning early (i.e., right away), yes.
