Hello doctors, I’m a 30 year-old powerlifter with no underlying health conditions, and today my GP called me regarding my recent blood test.
She said that I might have to go to an endocrinologist, because of higher FSH and Testosterone levels. She asked me if I take some medication or supplements, and I said that I only take creatine. She asked for a picture, and told me that will call a specialized hormone doctor.
She pointed out the healthy ranges, and to me they don’t seem too far away from my levels.
FSH (Serum): 1.0-8.0 IU/L
TEST: 10.0-32.0 nmol/L
–>mine are respectively 9.0 and 37.5
Other things were within the “healthy range” including LH (Serum) 6.6 IU/L (1.6-8.0)
Should I pay a visit to a specialized doctor or I can just live happily about it? I read Austin’s article “Clinical Testosterone” but I couldn’t find a case where both FSH and TEST are high.
Thanks for your time,
Quark90
Can’t really tell you what to do since neither of us are your doctors or know anything about your medical history including why your testosterone, FSH, and LH were being checked in the first place.
That said, I would consider getting repeat labs prior to seeking the opinion of a consultant on this.

@Jordan_Feigenbaum Hi Jordan, she was not my actual GP, as I moved to Australia 6 months ago, I just went to see a doctor in order to have a routine checkup. She wrote a prescription with the following tests:
FBC, ESR, FGL, HDL, IS, MBA, GHB, TFT, B12, FOL, MFSH, MLH, TESTO, HBC, HIV, SYP
After having the results, the GP pointed out that I have some abnormal levels of MFSH and TESTO, and that she would have to talk to an endocrinologist. She was concerned about me taking some supplements, and even asked me to bring over my creatine monohydrate to her.
For a healthy 30 year old with no complaints, presenting for a routine check-up, the only one of these tests that should have been checked was the HIV screen, and potentially the lipid panel.
Based on the information you’ve provided, there was no clinical reason to check any of the other tests, which makes these results difficult or impossible to interpret.

Did this happen to be a cash-based clinic?

They charge for consultations and blood test, but I was able to use my travel insurance and paid nothing.
Lol I went for a routine checkup, and when the doctor asked me if I’m thinking about having children in the future, then she added that I could benefit from a comprehensive blood test. The STD exams were useless in my opinion, as I’m in a stable relationship and had no symptoms, but now I’m honestly a bit concerned about my hormones.
She was incorrect.
Right. You are experiencing the harms of inappropriate screening when you would have likely been fine if these had never been checked at all.
These findings are probably not of any significance, but we can’t conclude that over the internet based on this information alone.
