I’m doing General S&C with my little brother. I had done the Bridge which was far more intense many years back, and tried to find a hip thrust video on it, as S&C requires it for myoreps. My hip thrust is probably my weakest executed movement
Was wondering if BM had similar instructional videos those in the Bridge Program for S&C and specifically hip thrust? The alternative is I could use the drop-down to choose an alternative exercise?
We don’t have an instructional video on the hip thrust. I think they’re relatively straightforward and have little concerns about people doing them so wrong as to be ineffective. That said, I’m happy to answer any questions about them that you may have.
Without starting a new topic, I am a bit confused on the setup for hip thrusts. I have a rack, barbell and bench.
At the moment I set the safety to a height and sit the bar on it, shimmy under the bar while setting shoulders on the bench then lift the bar with the top of my thighs, roll it back to the groin/waist area to clear the safety and begin the set doing the opposite at the end of the set.
Trying to get under/out from the bar is irritating and the weight is quite light so I’m wondering if I’m way off in the setup and if there is a better way for when it gets heavy.
I’ve always done hip thrusts by having the bar on the floor and upper back on a bench. I sit on the ground with my legs straight, torso upright, and back against the bench. Then, I roll the bar over my hips before bending both knees so my feet are flat on the floor. That’s my start position for the hip thrust. You can also space the bar off the ground by putting plates or blocks under the plates that are on the barbell.
