Hook Grip after Dorsal Dislocation Thumb IP Joint

Doctors,

A couple of years ago I had an open dislocated thumb (bike crash) where the distal section had a piggyback on its neighbour. Fortunately no twisting and the hospital reduced it fairly easily (easy for them anyway, my squealing gave the nurses a good laugh). Regained most of its mobility eventually (can’t bend quite as far as my other thumb and is a little bit weaker).

Just wondering if it’s likely to cause any issues with hook grip on the deadlift? I’m fine with double OH for now but I guess that won’t last forever.

Thanks

This is probably a fairly uncommon situation, and I don’t have any direct experience dealing with thumb dislocations, unfortunately. Only way to find out is to give it a shot.

Thanks Austin, will report back once I’ve had the opportunity to give it a proper go.
