There’s a couple ways to calculate volume. Typically how BBM calculates this is volume is simply summing sets*reps for every pressing variation, deadlift variation, and squat variation that is RPE 7 and up. There is also tonnage, which give you a bit more insight. Tonnage is basically where you basically sum up each set RPE 7 and up’s reps*weight for each of the categories. For average intensity you can calculate either absolute or relative. For absolute, you simply take your tonnage and divide by total reps for each category. For relative you can take the sum of your RPE’s for each set and divide by total sets. You can also translate the average RPE that gives you to an approximate percentage if you so desire using an RPE chart looking up based on your average reps per set.

Of note is that if you purchase one of the paid templates from this site they do come with an excel log where you simply log each set’s weight, reps, and RPE and it calculates and graphs a lot of this for you automatically.
