I’ve seen you guys say before that maintenance of muscle can be had with just 1/3 of the volume it took to build it. My question is how long can you keep that reduced volume before going backwards ?
currently ramping up running volume to prepare for a half marathon and also just got into mountain biking. I’m finding it very hard to balance it all on top of 2 leg days.

I’m don’t think we ever said that you people can maintain muscle with 1/3 of the training volume it took to build it. That is someone else you may be referencing.
With respect to muscle mass retention during periods of reduced or no lifting, I think most people won’t lose significant muscle mass if they’re otherwise healthy and active for 6 months or more.
