When would you start being concerned that someone’s fat intake is too low?
Would 30g a day be ok if it fits the person’s preference? 20g? If bodyweight is relevant let’s say it’s a 200lb male.
What about omega 3 intake being too low?
Would that omega 3 answer change if the diet is vegan and has no source of EPA and DHA?
We don’t really know, as this is almost never seen in those from deliberate dietary restriction in those with a functioning GI system. I’m not suggesting you try. I’ll concede I don’t really know how low someone can go, as it will vary with the person and how long they’re going to be eating this way.
I would never recommend 30g of fat a day for intake without medical supervision. It’s not sustainable anyway and I do think there’s some risk of nutrient deficiency at that level. Again, most people will not be able to do that for very long, so it’s sort of a self-correcting problem. Someone may be highly motivated to try however, so again I remind you that this is not something I would recommend.
