I follow a vegan diet and I’m finding it difficult to follow your recommendation of 1.6-3.1g protein daily. I’m 220 lbs. at around 20% body fat. Currently attempting to cut down to < 12%. It’s easy for me to get around 120g per day and with an extra protein shake before bed I can get it to the lower end of your recommendation (160g). But your articles state that while cutting, I should be in the middle of the 1.6-3.1 range. I will have to cut back on my carbs significantly to meet this, which is hard on a whole food plant based diet.
My question is, what is the absolute minimum amount of protein you would recommend for a cut? Is 1.6g/kg enough or do I need to be closer to 2.0g? I don’t mind changing up my diet for a few months while leaning down if I have to. Also, I’m in my 3rd week of your Beginner Template and I’m loving it! Switched over from SSLP. Thanks.
