How to approach session RPE and arbitrary units to reduce the risk of injury/pain?

I’ve just listened to podcast #39. I’m wondering how I can use the arbitrary units in a practical way. Can I use it for autoregulation e.g. if I have multiple sessions that I rate 9-10 RPE should I try to lower my volume or intensity? Can I use it to track progressive overload e.g. sRPE should increase throughout the mesocycle? Additionally, if so, how?

I did listen to the podcast somewhat passively since I’m also prepping for an exam tomorrow so sorry if there was something obvious in there that I missed.
