Icing -- Has BBM's approach changed since 2018?

Hey docs,

Do you still recommend icing as a generally innocuous form of symptom management for tendonopathy? Dealing with a bout of patellar tendonopathy (not training related) and the knee is quite stiff today and a bit puffy, wondering if icing is helpful at all. There was a post from a few years ago from Austin that linked here (Ice for Back Pain, Injuries, Tendinitis), so just wondering if the consensus is generally the same (i.e. might be helpful for the aforementioned symptoms).

Thanks!

I am indifferent towards the use of ice. I do not typically recommend it, but if someone specifically wants to use it, that’s fine, as long as it is understood that ice does nothing to facilitate functional recovery of tendinopathy.
