In-workout Snack

Hey Jordan,
I work out with my girlfriend pretty late at night (start at 8pm so about 12-13 hours after I wake up most days). I typically get home from work about 6 and relax for a bit and eat something light before going to the gym. I’ve been having a problem with hunger in my workout though. I’m typically at the gym for 2-2 and a half hours and about 60 to 90 minutes in the hunger starts to set in. By the last exercise I’m getting nauseated from the activity with such an empty stomach. Is there any suggestions on good snacks to have about halfway through the workout?

FWIW I live in Austin/San Antonio and work out in a gym with no A/C so it’s getting really hot and muggy, I’ve never taken any salt in workout or anything. I was thinking maybe a banana and like peanut butter crackers for some salt content? Though I’m unsure if fat slowing down digestion will help/hurt. Maybe I’m overthinking it or even just need to eat a little heavier before the workout.

Let me know what you think, thanks

I probably wouldn’t recommend eating during the workout or even attribute the nausea to being hungry, as most of the time nausea with activity is caused by the opposite.

I’d consider eating a more substantial meal prior to training and giving it ~90 min to settle before you train.
