I am curious as to the effect of irregular sleep due to being up with a newborn on training. Should I focus on getting a total number of hours at night + naps during the day? Or worry less about this? Thanks
The effects of sleep deprivation on performance depend on the magnitude, duration, individual response, etc.
Sleep quantity and quality are important and to the extent you can get enough high quality sleep each night, that would be ideal. I don’t think napping during the day is something I would use consistently and during periods of sleep deprivation, I would still recommend exercise with an autoregulated program.
