Is GPP isolation work okay after lifting days?

Hi doc,

With your templates, it says one set-up of a week is to do GPP in between lifting days. I know we can do GPP after workouts on lifting days, but if it were a day after lifting, wouldn’t it be inappropriate to do isolation work when your muscles are resting and recovering from the lifting done the day before e.g doing a bench workout on Wednesday, then doing tricep extensions on Thursday. Or doing GPP upper back work a day after doing pendlay rows?

I’ve just always understood it as muscles need at least 48hrs of rest before being stressed again.

If it is ok to do GPP isolation work a day after lifting, could you briefly explain why?

Many thanks

Yep. It’s more important to get the work in than it is to strive for optimal frequency, which probably doesn’t matter until total # of sets gets very high, e.g. > 10-15 sets for a given body part.

Do you think doing GPP rows the day before conventional deadlift day is a bad idea or not really?

I don’t think it matters at all.
