Is soy protein a good alternative to whey? Aaaand creatine

  1. So i found a really cheap soy protein in an all-bio all-natural store that i usually trust. The price is one third of the price of whey protein, and that matters to me because im 17 years old and its hard saving that much money. That said, the price is surprisingly low and i was wondering if you guys think there is any risk in taking it.

  2. I want to start taking creatine, i think, but i heard that it can cause hair loss? you know anything about this?

Paul,

  1. I would not recommend using soy protein over whey. You don’t need protein powder outside of a meal replacement due to logistical issues. I wouldn’t recommend it.

  2. Where did you here it causes hair loss? There are no studies showing this to be the case, merely an increase in DHT levels, which is not necessarily correlated to hair loss.

  1. Alright, im gonna try to save up for some decent whey.

  2. I couldnt find any studies, but a lot of articles (like this one: http://www.smarthealthadvice.com/creatine-hair-loss/ ) . I know, I know, most of the articles are trash, but i thought its worth it to ask you guys, just to be sure. So in the articles, they say that if you are predisposed to hair loss, creatine may stimulate this hair loss process and make it happen faster.

Well, anyway, dr. Feigenbaum, thank you for your answer, hope youre having a great day

That article is sensationalism and devoid of science.
