Isometric squeezes for adductor discomfort

I’ve been dealing with what I believe is adductor tendinopathy for several months now. I’ve found ways to work around it following advice I’ve received here and some trial and error. The discomfort is still, however, affecting my workouts weekly.

I came across an article that suggests isometric squeezes to “produce an analgesic (pain reducing) effect in your mind and body.” The advice came from a starting strength coach, Nick D’agostino.

I tried the squeezes with a medicine ball and it did seem to work for me today. Is there merit to this approach?

The author of the article also added that wearing compression bands/ shorts around pain areas in groin also helped minimize discomfort. Is this worth giving a chance?

This is the article in case you were cusrious.

If you’ve had discomfort for months and have been unable to find a solution to get past it, I’d consider a larger modification in your programming and approach. Yes, many exercises can help desensitize folks, but the movement, loading, and volume of the program need to be working in concert.

I don’t think compression bands or shorts would be my recommended strategy vs. modifying programming.
