So I know that barbell training and the big lifts are king for strength development but can kettelbells play a role in strength training? I haven’t heard much chatter on here about the use of kettelbells and would like to know if there is any useful application for it. I could imagine it might be useful as GPP or for some kind of strength endurance; or is it just silly “functional” training hype?
I think that you have to define exactly what you mean by “kettlebell training” and “strength” to have an answerable question and st of premises that can be investigated.
using a 16kg kettelbell to do conmplex swing such as turkish getup, windmill, 2 hand swing, cobbler squat etc. for reps at around RPE 8 for strength endurance and cardio improvement. The standard kettelbell workouts one finds online. I can imagine kettelbell training it’s not very specific so maybe a different question: do you know of any uses or benefits to using kettelbells (in the Parameters stated above)? Obviously it does nothing for 1 rep max on barbell lifts, but maybe it has a place in GPP
I don’t think kettlebells do a terribly good job at developing any parameter unrelated to kettlebells.
I thought that might be your answer, and since there are no kettelbell olympics, I think I’ll keep using it as a paperweight. Thanks again Hebrew Hammer
Just hammering kettlebells.
