Hey Jordan, I’m not sure what to do next, i would like to get some help, I’m coaching my girlfriend, i know its not the best idea but its working so far. So we doing Strength 1 template right now, we just started it yesterday, my problem is that my girlfriend knee at the squat always comes in, but in a bad way, so it comes in so much, as the weight gets heavier its gets worse. Its happening in the deadlift too, just there its not that bad but still. So i would like to get some help what we can do to stop this, some other accessories or some que or something i do not know. We tried some different things already like stance, lesser weight etc. but noting seems to work.
Thank you for you help and everything you do
Hard to say what’s going on without seeing it, but is she open to getting a coach?
Thank you for the response,
Should we make a video about it for you?
Yes, of course, very much, we tried to find one, but in our area there aren’t any powerlifting coaches , we tried to find one farther but they just don’t worth their money. We tried to find online coaches but the ones we would like are expensive( two university student here). The most favorable options was the group programming here, but you cant sign up this close to a meet, so maybe after the meet we will try that, but in the mean time we would like to help the situation somehow.
Sure, post a video
Interestingly, I cannot see her (or any) knees cave from the side angle. It doesn’t look bad at all, but it may just be the angle.
It’d be cool if she could squat somewhere else so she didn’t hit the pins at the bottom, which may be contributing to weird stuff happening on the way up. I’d also have her get her knees further forward earlier in her descent, as she will likely be able to hold them in place better this way. Finally, I’d have her go faster to get a better bounce out of the bottom.
That said, these don’t look bad at all and I’m not sure I’d be super concerned about her knees.
Thank you for the response again.
Yeah we only have this commercial gym available for us. Sometimes we can go to the crossfit area in there where she can squat normal without the pins, just most of the time there are classes there.
We have tempo squat described tomorrow (3-0-3) and we can go in the crossfit area so we can make a better video about it and don’t worry about the pins and try your cues.
Thanks for the advice
