Knee Tendinitis not improving noticeably

Dr. Jordan Feigenbaum and Dr. Austin Baraki,

A week and a half ago I brought this to your attention, and was given the advice that tempo squats and voltaren gel would help. I have not looked into voltaren gel yet, but I did try some tempo squats (and to admit, I did some pause squats, which wasn’t prescribed and may have slowed any progress). I do not want this to turn into more of a long term issue, so I was thinking of maybe taking a week off from squats (do deadlifts affect tendinitis much?), and then resuming with tempo squats. Is this a sound plan? And to clarify, what would be a good percentage tempo squats? Thanks, and sorry for having to post about this again.

Give it a shot and see what happens.

Prescribing percentages for tempo work is fraught with problems, and doesn’t tend to work very well. I’d start out by finding a weight where you have minimal discomfort, and work up from there over time.

If you can squat without pain, continue doing that.
