Length of Pivot/Washout between programs

Hello coaches,

I have recently completed Powerlifting II and tacked close to ~50LBs on my total. I would like to run another block of the same program and am aiming to test my maxes before the New Year.
I have about ~16 weeks to train and Powerlifting II does not run that whole length, so my question is:

How long is optimal for a pivot/washout period so I can desensitize myself to the program’s stimulus?

I’ve searched the forums and most of what I have read concerns a 1 week pivot. Would it be better to run ~4 weeks of hypertrophy with different exercise selections before returning to Powerlifting II?

Thanks,

Zach

There isn’t a generalizable “optimal” period for this. It’s entirely individual and not really something that can be predicted. Some folks won’t feel the need for such a thing at all, and can simply keep rolling through using the same training setup, whereas others may benefit (whether physically or psychologically) from more (or less) of a break. I wish there were a nice, simple answer for you here.
