Liss

This isn’t really template specific since it is in a lot of templates. I had heard a claim that a Japanese study showed 10 min 3 times a day for LISS was more effective than 30 min all at once. I kind of think this is probably about compliance. Still I am thinking this could help me with compliance. I really hate the thought of being on a stationary bike for 30 minutes. Walking outside or a mini ruck with a pack is a lot more tolerable but I am South Texas and weather isn’t always making me want to go walk for 30 min. So I was thinking maybe it would be easier to break it. So instead of setting Saturday for LISS another day of the week I could just break it up. When I take work breaks make sure I do 3 10 min walks or 6 5 min walks. While I am not ready to say because of the claim of the Japanese study I am ready to say that would be better for health, I do think it helps with compliance vs. having a Saturday dreading a bike in the gym or 30 mins in weather that will soak my shirt with sweat. As another note I need to put my dreaded abs day on a lifting day and leave arms or upper back which I like for cardio days to help compliance.

Any thoughts would breaking up LISS make a significant difference either way? I would think 2 15 min session might be better than 3 10 min or 6 5 min sessions. Hopefully I can discipline myself to do both the walks during work breaks and LISS. A little extra calorie burn at little to no recovery cost never hurts.

Exercise bouts as short as 5-minutes in duration are shown to be effective at improving various metrics of health. I do not think that breaking up LISS improves its efficacy in the long-term for health, but rather selects for slightly different performance adaptations. The extent of these differences probably don’t matter much for a strength enthusiast.
