Make me fit comfortably in your merch.

I just bought the beginner template and I’m really impressed with information as well as the detailed spreadsheet.

I’ve had a couple of runs at LP over the last few years. None that lasted anything beyond 8 weeks or so.

I’m 38 yo, 6’3", weigh 277 lbs. and have a 51" waist.

My question is: What should be my goal weight? I’m using the macro plan from “To Be a Beast” with the assumption I should be targeting fat loss and not recomp.

What I’m thinking is subtracting 500 kCal/day from the current maintenance amount which should get me to 230lbs.

That breaks down to: 2,600 kCal/day (285g protein, 230g carbs, 62g fats) and I’m guessing around 35g fiber minimum from a quick glance at the forums.

I’ve been lurking around here for the past few months and I am excited about what Barbell Medicine is doing. The RPE approach is much more intriguing to me than just “add 5 lbs”.

If you can help me out here I promise I’ll buy a t-shirt and/or hoodie when I achieve the approximate ideal weight. That way it’ll fit like it should.

FTP,

Thanks for the post and for signing up for our forum!

As far as goal weight goes, I would start by aiming to reduce your body weight by 5% and maintain it for the next 5 months before doing anything else. So, let’s plan on getting down to 260’ish and maintaining that through December before restarting the whole process.

Your diet looks pretty good to me, though I’d swap around the protein and carb numbers

Looking forward to seeing you in one of our shirts!

Thanks for the reply Doc. Sounds like a plan. I’ll report back come December.
