medication timing

Hello Docs! I’ve got a question about medication timing around a training session. Meds are Synjardy(dr recommended over just metformin cause of family history), lisinopril/hctz, and atovastatin. My main question has to do with synjardy and lisinopril. Would it be best to take these before or after training? I train in the morning after breakfast. I usually take them before but today I decided to take them after. I feel like i got more out of my session today than I have since starting the meds 4 months ago. Is this placebo or is it more nuanced. What do?

Using lisinopril as an example, its onset of action is within an hour, its half life is about 12 hours, and its overall duration of effect is about 24-30 hours. Meaning that whether you take it an hour earlier (e.g., before training) or an hour after (e.g., after training), it probably doesn’t make a huge difference and is in your system either way.

If you “felt” better taking it after, there is no downside to continuing to do this if it’s a sustainable strategy for you, and if it doesn’t cause you to develop symptomatic low blood pressure after training.
