Hey,
I am looking for a recommendation on how long I should wait to start loading again or any idea on what may be going on.
I trained consistently for a year following a crossfit/strength program 5 times a week. Then due to a remote work location and very busy tempo went down to only working out twice a week in a field camp for around 4 weeks and then about 4 weeks of living out in the woods in a tent hiking around. I lost a significant amount of weight around 12 pounds during this period of time from lack of food at the campsite and a lot of activity. I was sleeping poorly and eating poorly as there was minimal food to go around. Just as a backround.
Fast forward to me getting home I started working out again. Had my coach reduce my training load and maxes to restart progress and switch to a hypertrophy/powerlifting block to gain some of the size I lost back paired with the shoulder rehab template as Im dealing with shoulder issues.
I was squatting, Deadlifting, doing back ext and good mornings no issues. Then Monday morning I picked up my daughter (30lbs) and went to open the door. I got a very sharp pain in my back kind of in line with my bottom ribs and slightly off to the left if my spine. The pain radiated immediately into my stomach and through my ribs if that makes sense. I passed her off quickly and fell to the floor had a hard time breathing and got laughed at by my wife haha. Anyway so the day immediately after I was moving around like an old man couldnt bend my back etc. Then yesterday it felt a bit better but painful to rotate my thoracic spine to the left and today it felt a bit better again. So I did some landmine presses for the shoulder no issues and went to do block pulls with 135 just to get things moving and build the confidence. I got that same sharp pain like a punch to the liver but dropped the weight right away. Its not as bad as Monday but I am laid up on the couch at the moment.
Any thoughts on what may be going on. I obviously didnt wait long enough to try lifting. Any general recommendations on how to jump back into it.
Thanks for your time!
