Mid shin rack pull and sore back

I started doing the strength 3 plan which has rack pulls from mid shin. Is it odd that this lift gives me more back soreness than a normal deadlift? I thought these were supposed to be easier.

Also I did deficit deads in the hypertrophy plan and didn’t get back soreness.

I will record the next time I pull from mid shin but am I wrong about mid shin pulls being easier?

Yea I wouldn’t expect a new exercise to be easier than one you’ve done before (or a very close variant). That being said, soreness doesn’t necessarily mean the exercise was harder either- sometimes it just be like that.
