Mild injury and calorie deficit

Hi,

I’ve just peaked my strength and I’m starting a 3-4 week pivot/GPP -based block. I did hurt/injury my left ham/quad slightly during max out deadlifts. It’s not a big injury, but my lower body training is probably compromised for a few weeks anyway.

My initial goal was also to be in a calorie deficit for a short time, just to shed a tiny bit off extra fat I’ve gathered. Will being in a deficit and being slightly injured compromise my strength too much though? Should I wait that I can put some proper weight to the bar before reducing calories?

No, it won’t compromise strength in a meaningful way. I wouldn’t worry about this given these will be small instances where you have to work through these experiences but long term sustained training will outweigh these blips in time.

Thanks! I suspected so, but needed some reassurance from someone wiser
