More bulking questions

Hi,

I have some questions about bulking. My training log is linked in this post. Height is 6 feet 1 inches/185 cm and bw is around 85-86 kg currently. Waist circumference is not a problem, it is 31.5 inches.

  1. How slow should “lean bulk” be? I have tried to bulk but my morning weight has stayed the same for 2 months. As a former skinny guy, my metabolism is very fast. I already feel like I am eating enough, I don’t gain weight accidentally.

  2. Would gomad-type diet work with fat-free milk? It is less calories but it is still high in protein. I have never really liked milk but I can tolerate fat-free milk better.

  3. Do you think bulking is that beneficial for people who are not underweight? My goals are both strengh and aesthetics and I am not trying to become a compentive powerlifter. I would like to bulk to at least 90 kg, 95 kg is probably max. But I can still get stronger at this bw. Does that mean I can gain muscle while maintaining bw?

Thanks.

Jask,

  1. ~ 1-2kg per month or so. Slower if your waist line starts to expand rapidly, of course.
  2. That would not be my preference, but it could work. I just don’t see the use.
  3. If they don’t want to gain weight, no…not really. You can probably gain some muscle without gaining weight, yes.

Thanks for answering. Looks like I didn’t link my training log but it’s not that important. I thought it would give more info if needed.

So, 1-2 kg per month but it could be even slower than that. Then I might be in a very small surplus. Because I think my maintance is not this high (or it its), I don’t track calories. I might have to start tracking my weight more, maybe writing morning weights down. Currently I just look at the scale when I feel like it, this is probably not the best way to track slow weight gain.
