I recently started barbell training with a coach. I’m doing light weights/higher reps until I improve my technique for squat, bench and deadlift. For about 6 weeks now all my fingertips have been numb/tingly and the backs of my hands also get tingly from time to time. My doctor did tests for carpal tunnel with negative results. He’s thinking it’s a bruised nerve in my neck due to poor technique lifting and says it can take months to heal. Is this just a waiting game for me or is there anything I can do to speed up the healing process or verify the problem?
Sorry man, while I am quite skeptical of the “bruised nerve” hypothesis, this is difficult to comment on here without knowing more about you. For example, besides a peripheral entrapment neuropathy like carpal tunnel syndrome, there is a very long list of potential neuropathies and non-neuropathic causes of numbness and tingling like this.
