Ongoing Finger numbness/tingling

Eh, what’s up doc? I’ve had numbness/tingling in my left pinky, and 1/2 my ring finger (the half that’s close to my pinky) for almost a year now. While doing LBBS the numbness becomes intolerable tingling. I’ve stopped LBBS for a while (another story, but I’m working on front squats), and that seemed to help. I’ve also been wearing elbow sleeves. However, bench press, and CGBP in particular also seem to aggravate the issue. I’m not sure if the issue is related primarily to how the bar rests on my palms when benching and doing LBBS, or if it’s primarily related to some issue with my triceps. I don’t know much about anatomy, but there’s a particular spot near where my triceps and brachialis are that if pressed makes the tingling worse. Finally, if I press on the “meaty area” under my left thumb I get sharp pain, which doesn’t happen in the same area on my right thumb.

Not sure what’s going on, but I’d really like to get sensation in my fingers back. Typing with a numb pinky is a bit of a challenge, and the tingling gets a bit annoying. Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Finally, if I run your hypertrophy template will trainers hate me? 30lb of muscle guaranteed or my money back?

You’ve got ulnar neuropathy, which can occur at a few different points in the arm or wrist - commonly at the wrist and elbow. It may be related to how the bar is resting in your palm, which may require some experimentation to work around. But if you can’t find a workaround, and it hasn’t gone away on its own after a whole year, you could go get it formally evaluated in case you need a surgical release procedure.

I’m guessing recovery for said procedure takes longer than a couple days? Will I potentially experience more complications if I don’t deal with the problem soon?

Depends on where the entrapment is and thus, where the release needs to be done.

It’s possible to get some motor complications and effects on the intrinsic muscles of the hand from prolonged ulnar neuropathy, yes.
