I’ve been having right shoulder pain for at least 8 weeks now. Hurts when I do a lateral raise but front raises are fine. Wake up in the night with pain regardless of sleep position. Seems to be similar to ‘frozen shoulder’.
Standard bench press and military press are out of the picture at the minute as the pain is too intense. I’ve found I can close grip bench with very minimal to no pain so have been doing that.
Rehab wise, would you recommend any of the below options over the other, or would you say they’re all good plans?
- Carry out close grip bench exclusively and gradually widen my grip over time, depending on pain
- Carry out close grip bench, but finish sets with a light and tolerable wide grip set, ideally increasing weight over time
- Carry out spoto or board press (I only experience pain when I get close to my chest), increasing range of motion over time depending on pain
