Hi guys was wondering if you could help?
Had shoulder pain for about 9 months and it started just over a year ago. Have been training fine for a few months and pain went away after I started training. Yesterday I experienced some bad shoulder pain and it still hurts, I couldn’t bench even the bar today, pain is made worse when vertically abducting arm past 90 degrees and I can’t really point my finger on where the actual pain is. Because I could t bench I pressed today which didn’t feel comortbale but I did. It anyway, mid shin rack pulls were fine and squats were fine but were very uncomfortable at first. The pain started yesterday but I last trained on Friday (two days prior) so I find t weird how I just stared feeling pain, I think it may be because I slept on it and I don’t think I usually do that? Anyway it hurts pretty bad and clicks a lot when abducting arm however shoulder flexion is fine. Any advice would be appreciated
Hey Sam,
*Note I am student physical therapist, but want to ask a few questions to get the ball rolling
What programming are you following and where are you in it?
Is only the barbell bench painful or are all pressing motions painful (i.e. overhead press, pushups, dumbbell bench, etc)?
Do variations in bench press grip change the pain (i.e. close grip)?
When the shoulder pain started a year ago, was there any event at that time? Or any new activity?
