PA medicine/fitness outlook

Good morning docs,

I apologize if this isn’t the correct place for this query, but it is medical related so I figured why not. I am starting PA school here in the states and was wondering if you knew of an area of specialty for PAs in medicine that would allow me to focus on patient health, fitness, etc. in a more holistic and evidence based approach akin to what you fine folks do here. Obviously as a PA I would have to be part of a practice with a supervising physician so it is unlikely I would be able to branch out and do my own thing. I know of a PA that works in the bariatric center trying to modify behaviors of obese individuals before resorting to gastric sleeves and the like. Can you all think of any other examples?

Thanks in advance

SG,

Thanks for the post and congrats on getting into PA school. That’s awesome! To your question, I’m don’t have any specialty or field that comes to mind here. Regardless of what you go into, your practice should be evidence-based. I would guess sports medicine or pm/r would be your best bets.
