Pain at base of thumb/wrist

Good evening and thank you for taking time to read my questions!

I’m a 41 year old female lifter of almost 2 years and I’m just completing my second run of Bridge 2.0 with significant success. Since I started lifting, I’ve always had pain in my right hand at the base of my thumb where it meets my wrist (pronator quadratus muscle if I’m not mistaken) whenever I deadlift over 135 lbs or pendlay row over 100 lbs. I switched to an alternate grip for deadlifts using the supine position with my right hand and the pain is not there and I even recently completed a 1@9 at 300 lbs without incident. However, the pain is keeping my rows from progressing since I only use pronate grip.

Would you have any recommendations for alleviating pain during rows? Or an alternative exercise that I may be comparable to rows? Also, after reading up on your blog regarding alternate grip with deadlifting, should I switch to a hook grip for deadlift even though I’ve been successful with alternate grip?

Thanks for your amazing programming and for any advice you may have!

Does this pain occur irrespective of load?

Are you performing the rows with straps?

I’d recommend using straps as a first step for the rows.
