Not sure if this is the appropriate spot for this, so I apologize in advance!
ive been dealing with some sort of Tendinopathy & It Band syndrome by my greater trochanter and side of my left knee, respectively. I haven’t gotten these ‘diagnosed’ by a professional, just going off descriptions online and articles on the BBM website & prior experience with these injuries/this pain. I’ve been working on implementing proper load management in training and it’s been going decently well.
However, I work a desk job where I have to sit for most of the day answering telephones and checking patients in & out at a hospital. I get a significant increase of pain when I sit all day at work, even if I had no pain in training the 24-48 hours prior. I don’t have access to a standing desk and there’s no way to install one in the desk(s) that I frequent at work.
I’m sure this would be best saved for a consultation with the team but I felt like it was worth a shot to put it here!
Our general recommendation would be to adjust the variables of your training (load, volumne, intensity, frequency, etc) in order to find a tolerable entry point where you are not experiencing significant increase in symptoms 24-48 hours following training, including while participating in activities of daily living and/or work-related activities. It’s possible that you need to take a closer look at your training variables and make additional modifications.
Unfortunately, while there are many variables that we can change, there are some variables in life that are much more difficult to modify, and our work-related duties can fall in that category. While I understand that you do not have access to a standing desk, is it possible to take standing breaks or short walks at set intervals (maybe ever 30 minutes or so) to at least allow yourself to change position and move in a different way? Even very short periods of change in position could be a possible modification to help you experience less symptoms with prolonged sitting.
I wish that was more helpful. Best of luck with your situation.
