Hi,
for a couple of weeks I have had a peculiar problem:
Whenever I bench with heavier weights, and complete a set and rack the bar,
my right hand and wrist hurts as I release the bar.
I tend to open the right hand grip slower than normal, I have this strange reluctance to release the grip (because I know there will be some pain after? I don’t know).
I think I have felt the pain in my forearm as well.
One thing that I have considered trying is to rack the bar “more softly”, rather than let the bar clash against the rack,
that’s the best solution attempt I can conceive of with my limited knowledge.
The bench press is the only lift that seems to cause this (OHP doesn’t).
Any idea what this is all about and what to do about it?
Hey @Mindok - I’ve had other folks report this previously. Going to be tough to give insight online and without more information. How long does this experience last after releasing the bar? Sounds like something which resolves quickly?
Gotcha. Not too sure I’d get overly concerned if the experience dissipates quickly and isn’t effecting other lifts or activities of daily living. If need be, we’d be happy to consult with you for further insight: Contact Us | Barbell Medicine
