Pain in the left bicep

Hello guys, hope you are doing great!

I am doing NLP. Two weeks ago, I perfored Presses, that turned out to be an all out struggle with the weight. I did 3x5 and after went to deadlifting. While deadlifting, on the 4th rep I felt pain in my left bicep (near elbow joint). It lasted couple of seconds, so i decided to do a 5th rep and felt nothing doing it. The days after i decided to reduce my deadlift training weight to 70& and did not feel a thing during the training. The day after however I have a feeling that something is “wrong” there. It is not a severe pain, but ii have an uncomfortable/tense feeling in the region while doing daily tasks. I do not know if i should relate this “pain” to pressing or deadlifting.

Yesterday I performed 80% deadlifts and it felt good during the session. This strange uncomfortable feeling in the left bicep is still there the next day however. I am intending to continue my training before it shows any signs of further complications. Is this a good idea?

Thanks for your time

Hey @green ,

Sorry to hear about the biceps issue. It’s difficult to provide individualized advice without a consultation to gather some more context. We’d be happy to consult with you remotely. One thing I’ll add is that if you’re pulling with a mixed grip and your left hand is the ‘underhand’, make sure your elbow is locked and you’re not ‘curling’ the weight on that side essentially. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with pulling with a mixed grip, but oftentimes as the weight gets heavier some folks have a tendency to try to ‘curl’ the weight with that underhand as they approach lockout, which has the potential to cause some irritation in the area.
