Paraumbilical hernia

My wife has decided she wants to start training, but multiple pregnancies have gifted her with a paraumbilical hernia. She has a consult with a hernia specialist at the Shouldice Clinic in Toronto in a couple months, but would like to start training before her appointment. Generally speaking, would you counsel against lifting with an untreated paraumbilical hernia? What about after treatment? Any additional information would be great to have at the appointment as I don’t know how experienced the physicians will be with lifting.

Thanks in advance

We have trained many folks with painless, reducible hernias and they generally do fine. If it gets “stuck” or progressively more painful, that’d be a reason to get checked out as soon as possible.

Thanks. Appreciate all you guys are doing. Keep it up.
