Personal Training Certification

Hello Doctors,

I wasn’t sure where to post this question, so my apologies if this is the incorrect place. I am returning to the fitness industry after many years (long career with the YMCA as a fitness director). I will be a fitness director/specialist for a fitness center connected with a hospital.

In the past, I held personal training certifications through the NSCA and NASM as well as USAW Sports Performance. However, I have never held any certifications through ACSM.

So, what certification(s) through what organization(s) do you feel would be the most repspected (as a physician) and the most valuable to me? **Does BBM offer a certification or seminar that would be perfect for me?

Thank you for your feedback! Have a blessed evening!

We did a podcast where we touched on this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8m-YxM-ByA

As far as what certifications a physician would respect, i don’t think most physicians will be familiar with or respect any of them, if I’m being honest. Some docs who do CrossFit might like that one and others who are sports medicine may be familiar with the ACSM, but I don’t think referrals from physicians you don’t already have a personal relationship with will make a big difference.

We are working on our certification, but I don’t expect physicians to respect it or be familiar with it any more than others unless they’re familiar with us.
