portions of fat

Hello,

I am wondering how a 6 foot 4 200 pound man could measure how much fat he should eat per meal.

Without knowing anything else, I would recommend ~100g fat per day split up evenly into each meal assuming you’re aiming for ~ 3100 Calories per day while trying to maintain weight.

This isn’t really enough information to say this with confidence however.

Can you eyeball fat? Is the best way just to use part of your thumn?

I don’t think that’s likely to be accurate enough, as most fat content comes in other foods. If you’re going to go this route, I’d probably recommend tracking macros and weighing things on a scale as you can.

Hello again,

How much should I drink per day with like 4-5 meals? Should I have 16-20 ounces per meal?

Of water…

This is generally not important thing to micromanage, as your body is very, very good at making sure you get enough water in.

Current recommendations set adequate levels for total water intake from all foods and liquids at 3.7 liters for men and 2.7 liters for women. Among U.S. adults, men consumed an average of 3.46 liters of water per day, and women consumed 2.75 liters per day. This seems to trend with activity, where more active people drink more water and and less active people drink less. Some may be hypohydrated and benefit from using their bodyweight to manage fluid intake.

We did a podcast on this, which is available here.
