Possible pinched nerve in my neck

I have been lifting for about 10 years now. When I first started lifting I think I pinched a nerve in my neck. There will be times when I’m laying down in bed and if I lay too flat I will wake up with a dizzy feeling and will feel like the spins. Then it will effect my lifts that require me to lay flat on a bench. Do you have any feedback as to if it could be fixed in any way. I never know when it is going to happen. But it effects some of lifts for 2-3 days after waking up with that dizzy/spins feeling.

If you are experiencing symptoms of vertigo, I think it would be reasonable to get evaluated by a physician.

You could try something called the Epley maneuver at home. Can be used to treat something called benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) which can be exacerbated when you lay down. Your doc will probably do something similar or a test called a Dix-Hallpike maneuver to see if it causes you to have the same symptoms or your eyes to beat a certain way (called nystagmus) during the maneuver. If you have a friend, they can help you out, but if you’re reasonably healthy and fit individual it shouldn’t be an issue. Avoid if you have had any neck surgery in the past or your carotids have been operated on. And of course talk to your friendly neighborhood doc to follow-up.
