Programming during a cut

Do you all normally change your programming during a cut?

I recently started the Bridge coming off novice LP, but my waist is getting real close to 37 inches so I’d like to enter a caloric deficit real soon. Should I just stick with the Bridge as written? Or should I change up my template to something like hypertrophy? I saw that Feigenbaum recommended Hypertrophy I to someone doing a caloric deficit.

I wouldn’t change the programming, but I would probably be extra mindful about rating the RPE of each set and session. It wouldn’t be unreasonable for some weight to come off the bar in the midst of a calorie deficit, though it’s by no means guaranteed. I’d also probably place a higher priority on completing the recommended GPP during the process.

Any of the Hypertrophy programs would be a fine choice to run during a cut.

If you really want to and have a firm grasp on how BBM programs/ utilizes RPE I would switch from the bridge. All the bridge really does is acclimate you to the BBM training style. I’ve ran the hypertrophy template on a deficit with some decent results but I think something like the endurance template is plausible as well. I would focus more on the caloric deficit and less on the training style (so long as you are reaching the weekly exercise recommendations).

It depends on your long term goals
