Protein Bars

Hi docs and BBM staff!

I’ve been curious lately about protein bars. On busy days I’ll grab a protein bar from the store to help get protein in. I’ve found a few I like and I was curious if there is any concern for protein bars having significant inaccuracies or contamination that this community is outspoken against. Are these generally more regulated since they’re sold as an actual food product or are they subject to just as many discrepancies? I understand some use soy or different proteins that may not be as high quality - the ones I usually go for use Whey as the main protein source. I just want to make sure this is not something to be concerned with for tested feds and other potential contaminants in general. I’ve never noticed protein bars saying they’re NSF or cGMP certified so I wanted to know if this is something to worry about.

Thanks for the time!

I have minimal concerns about protein contamination in bars in general. I think they (protein bars) are fine to use as needed.

Thanks for the reply! That’s good to hear.
