Question concerning LBM retention

Hello all,
I am currently in the process of gaining weight with the goal of adding lbm.
I am wondering if when I reach my goal weight, I should maintain/train at my goal weight for a while before cutting back down or just flip back to a deficit immediately.

Additional information:
23 y/o male
I spent the first year of my training losing weight as i was obese (270lb down to 190) I have never trained while gaining weight before.
I will be measuring my waist to ensure I’m clear of the danger zone.

basically i just was curious if training at a higher bodyweight/with more lbm would allow me to keep more lbm when I cut back down.

Forgive my ignorance if this is a dumb question, I’m new here.

I’m not sure if I understand your question entirely, but yes resistance training while losing weight does tend to reduce the amount of LBM lost. Additionally, resistance training while gaining weight tends to promote more LBM accrual than if someone weren’t engaging in resistance training.

Sorry, I’ll try to be clear.
2 scenarios
training would be identical for the purposes of this hypothetical

A. Bulking up to 220lbs and continuing to train at 220 for X number of weeks before starting to cut down to 190lbs

Vs

B. Bulking up to 220lbs and immediately starting to cut back down once my weight hits 220lbs.

Do you think there would be any meaningful difference in amount of lbm retained after the cut in scenario A vs Scenario B

I don’t think it matters in most cases, though individual results may vary.

Thanks for answer Jordan!
