Reasonable Goals for 1st Mock Meet

Just finished HLM (not BBM’s version) and will transition next week to the BBM Novice Peaking Template in preparation for a mock meet.

My last week of HLM I completed the following:

  • Squat 355x3x3
  • Bench 235x3x3
  • Deadlift 430x3

What would be a reasonable goal for meet day? The Novice Peaking Template has some singles @8 so I will get a better idea after that but still want to have a few numbers to shoot for. I’m 25 y/o male, 6’3" 230# if it matters. Thanks for the help.

Hard to say because the information provided about your performance does not include effort (RPE), which is crucial when making a rough plan for meets or mock meets. I generally recommend that everyone aims for 95-97.5% of their e1RM as determined by top single performance at one week out. The RPE/percentage pairing chart is based on averages, so going 2.5-5% under what it says is your theoretical max can help account for how you may differ from the average. You would then want to adjust your mock meet strategy based on speed and technique of your first and second mock attempts on each lift.
