Recovery post Lumbar Puncture?

Hey @Jordan_Feigenbaum / @Austin_Baraki

I started strength training a few months ago, following the basic linear progression programme.

developed an extreme headache whilst lifting, got checked out and a Lumbar Puncture was required, which came back all clear and nothing worrying thank god.

i had the investigative procedure about 4 days ago, resting currently with small walks and sitting mainly, how can I get back into training? How should I approach training as would rather not have a CSF leak/puncture site opening whilst lifting.

what do? Thank you in advance!

If you are feeling fine at 4 days out from the procedure, I do not see any reason to recommend specific physical activity restrictions or a “special” approach to returning to training.

Thanks Dr Baraki

Thanks Dr Baraki, as a precaution are there any issues with lifting in general after the above procedure? Would heavy lifting affect the CSF area?

I would not be training in the first 48 hours or so after such a procedure.

[/quote] Thanks Dr Baraki - From a generalist perspective is there any cause for concern for lifting after getting one of these ops done assuming adequate rest of say 1 week? e.g. lifting heavy in future may lead to CSF leak/tear? Or is it safe to resume normal processes if “feeling back to normal”? Just worried about causing any issues thats all, hardly any documentation on the interwebs!

I feel like this was answered by my initial reply.
